Colin Farrell will join the cast of Saving Mr. Banks, a film based on Walt Disney’s 14-year attempt to gain the rights to develop, Mary Poppins, into a movie. Director, John Lee Hancock, and screenwriter,Kelly Marcel, are on the job for this tale.

Deadline reports that Tom Hanks (The DaVinci Code) will play the role of Walt Disney and Emma Thompson (Nanny McPhee) will P.L Travers, the Australian novelist that Disney spends years trying to convince.  Farrell is set to play Travers’s father, the inspiration for the stern father, Mr. Banks, in the famous tale of the lovable nanny.
